Devcom Developer Conference 2024 Achieves Record-Breaking Attendance with 45% Increase

The Devcom Developer Conference 2024 has reached new heights, with a record-breaking attendance of over 5000 participants, marking a 45% increase from the previous year. According to the organizers, the relocation to the Koelnmesse Confex conference centre has enabled the expansion of the conference, resulting in a significant boost in speakers, partners, and attendees. This year, the event saw 1300 Gamescom trade visitors register, in addition to its regular attendees. The conference boasted an impressive lineup of over 350 speakers, a 100-speaker increase from the previous year, who presented across 210+ sessions on 17 stages, including the keynote stage. The increased capacity allowed representatives from 1660 companies across 83 countries to attend, ranging from small independent companies to large, established corporations. The organizers attributed the surge in attendance to the various side events, such as the Xsolla Game Night, European Game Night, and Courage Cologne, which drew in thousands of additional attendees. Stephan Reichart, MD of game events GmbH, expressed his delight at the conference's extraordinary success, stating, "This year's devcom Developer Conference exceeded all our expectations and broke records. The move to Koelnmesse's new Confex has allowed us to expand our offerings and create a more spacious environment for our attendees, speakers, and partners. The 45% increase in visitor numbers compared to last year highlights the growing significance of devcom within the global games industry. Our B2B program was extremely well-received, providing publishers and developers with additional days to negotiate new projects at Devcom and Gamescom." The organizers recently released the results of this year's speaker survey, which revealed that almost 90% of respondents believe AAA games can be successful without the need for additional purchases, such as loot boxes, battle or season passes, and progress boosters like XP multipliers and crafting resources.
