Nintendo to Discontinue Free Animal Crossing Pocket Camp Mobile Game

Nintendo has announced that it will be retiring its free-to-play mobile game, Animal Crossing Pocket Camp, on November 28, and introducing a paid alternative. Although the launch date and pricing for the new game have not been disclosed, the company has confirmed that it will not feature in-app purchases or require a constant internet connection. Further details are expected to be unveiled in October 2024. To ensure a seamless transition, players will be able to transfer their progress to the new game. However, the premium in-game currency, Leaf Tickets, will no longer be available after the launch of the paid version, so players are encouraged to use them before the game's closure in November. Subscription-based players will continue to be charged until October 28, after which all auto-renewals will be cancelled. This move is reminiscent of Nintendo's decision to end Mario Kart Tour last year.
