Virtuos Expands Global Presence with Acquisition of UK-Based Third Kind Games

Global game development company Virtuos has announced the acquisition of Third Kind Games, an independent game developer based in the UK. This move is expected to strengthen Virtuos' capabilities in co-developing AAA games and establish a new presence in the UK. Third Kind Games, which has worked on notable titles such as Fable, Forza Horizon 4, and Sea of Thieves, will continue to operate under the leadership of its nine co-founders. The team aims to significantly expand its workforce over the next two years in response to increasing demand for flexible game development models. According to Chief Strategy Officer Rav Tharanee, the partnership with Virtuos marks an exciting new chapter for Third Kind Games, enabling the company to take on new AAA projects while maintaining its innovative and creative vision. As Virtuos' first UK-based operation, Third Kind Games will play a key role in expanding the company's global footprint. This acquisition is the latest in Virtuos' expansion efforts, which have included establishing studios in Vietnam, Tokyo, Warsaw, and Prague, as well as acquiring Beyond-FX in Los Angeles to enhance its real-time VFX capabilities.
