Kingmakers Lands Film Adaptation Deal Ahead of Launch

Kingmakers, an upcoming time-traveling shooter with tower defense and strategy elements from Redemption Road, has been greenlit for a movie adaptation prior to its release. According to the game's publisher, tinyBuild, a partnership with Story Kitchen has been formed to create a live-action film based on the game. The movie will be an adaptation of the game, which takes players back in time to medieval England, where they must aid Owain Glyndwr's 1401 Welsh Rebellion, utilizing a range of modern weaponry, including assault rifles, humvees, and attack helicopters, in large-scale battles. Story Kitchen, founded in 2022 by Dmitri M. Johnson, producer of Sonic the Hedgehog, and former APA agent Mike Goldberg, aims to adapt video games and other non-traditional intellectual properties into film and television. The company is also working on TV adaptations, including Phoebe Waller-Bridge's Tomb Raider series for Amazon and a film adaptation of Black Salt Games' Dredge.
