Veterans from IO Interactive and Plarium Unite to Launch Chamo Games
A group of seasoned game developers, formerly of Raid: Shadow Legends and Hitman, have joined forces to establish Chamo Games. The studio was founded by Zoher Toutanji, former COO of IO Interactive, and Roberto Schiavulli, ex-creative director at Plarium, in September 2023. With its base in Malmö, Sweden, the team of 25 developers, which includes talent from prominent companies like Riot Games, CD Projekt Red, and Ubisoft, operates remotely. Chamo Games is currently developing a unique, non-lethal first-person shooter, with plans for monthly playtesting. The project has garnered support from notable investors, including Lakestar, Sisu Game Ventures, and Griffin Gaming Partners, although specific funding details remain undisclosed. According to Toutanji, "Chamo Games represents a community-driven approach to creating innovative gaming experiences." The studio's vision, as expressed by Schiavulli, is to "prioritize player enjoyment and team well-being, with the goal of elevating the standards of PC and console gaming." Their inaugural project promises to be an unconventional yet entertaining skill-based game.
