Shipyard Games Ceases Operations
Finnish mobile game development studio Shipyard Games has announced that it will be shutting down. According to a report by PocketGamer, CEO and co-founder Andreas Wedenberg stated in a message on the studio's Discord server that the primary reason for the closure is a lack of investment. Wedenberg expressed that the company's financial situation is dire, with depleted funds and a previous investor unwilling to provide continued support despite the promise shown by their recent release, Wizards & Kingdoms GO. As a result, the studio will cease operations in approximately two months, and the game will no longer receive updates, eventually being taken offline due to the inability to pay for server costs. Wedenberg thanked the community for their assistance, feedback, and support, apologizing that the team could not complete the game as envisioned due to financial constraints. Founded in 2017, Shipyard Games had received a $2.9 million investment from Supercell just a couple of months later.
