Social First Lands $4.2 Million in Funding

Social First has successfully secured $4.2 million in funding through a seed funding round. The investment, led by Crowberry Capital, also saw participation from Business Finland and an increased investment from Play Ventures, an original pre-seed investor. The funds raised will be allocated towards the development of the studio's upcoming cross-platform social MMO game, which is slated for an early access release later in the year. Founded in late 2021 by Kim Soares and Mikko Kähärä, former executives at Kukouri, Social First currently comprises a team of 20 industry veterans from prominent studios such as Ubisoft, Rovio, and Paradox Interactive. According to Hekla Arnardóttir, founding partner at Crowberry Capital, "The team at Social First boasts an impressive wealth of experience. The traction their early releases have gained is a testament to their profound understanding of social games, and we are excited to support them as they embark on their early launch and strive to redefine the social gaming landscape." Harri Manninen, founding partner at Play Ventures, added, "The Social First team has set extremely ambitious goals for their game and has already managed to build a thriving community around their early playtests, yielding remarkable results."
