Hybe Interactive Media Secures $80 Million Investment for Enhanced Publishing Capabilities
Hybe Interactive Media has successfully raised $80 million through a strategic investment round, bolstering its capacity to expand and enhance its video game publishing operations. As a subsidiary of the prominent South Korean entertainment company Hybe, which is renowned for its association with the immensely popular boy band BTS and operates multiple music labels globally, Hybe Interactive Media was established in April 2022 as the company's dedicated gaming division. The recent $80 million investment, led by Makers Fund and complemented by contributions from IMM Investment and Hybe itself, is earmarked for augmenting the company's publishing and game development capabilities. To date, Hybe Interactive Media has launched several titles, including the rhythm action game Rhythm Hive, the match-three puzzle game BTS Island: In the SEOM, and the role-playing game Astra: Knights of Veda developed by Flint. Additionally, the company is slated to publish the fantasy character collection game Oz Re:write by Macovill. Demonstrating its commitment to the gaming industry, Hybe Interactive Media, along with its parent company Hybe, invested in the Korean game developer Aqua Tree last year, followed by an investment in another Korean studio, Action Square, earlier this year. According to HYBE IM President Wooyong Chung, "This significant investment represents a crucial milestone for HYBE IM, enhancing our competitive edge in the global gaming landscape." He further emphasized, "With the backing of Makers Fund, IMM Investment, and HYBE, we are poised to pursue sustainable growth and innovation, cementing our position as a comprehensive game development and publishing company."
