Jam City Reduces Workforce by 10%

Jam City, a prominent mobile game developer, has undergone significant staff reductions. According to a company representative, around 10% of the workforce, or roughly 85 individuals, were laid off on August 2. In an email to employees, CEO Josh Yguado cited the current market conditions as the primary reason for this decision. Yguado mentioned that despite initial predictions of a gaming industry upswing in 2024 following a difficult 2023, the anticipated growth has not materialized as expected. The company has also experienced underwhelming performance in several key titles, including DC Heroes & Villains, Jurassic World Alive, and Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery. This is not the first instance of Jam City downsizing, as the company laid off 17% of its workforce in August 2022, affecting between 150 and 200 employees, primarily within its subsidiary Ludia. Jam City had acquired Ludia in September 2021 for $165 million.
