Microsoft Establishes New Studio Within Blizzard

According to a recent report, a new studio has been established within Blizzard, comprising mainly employees from King, a mobile game development company. The report, citing sources, indicates that Microsoft and Activision have given the green light for the creation of this new team, which will focus on developing AA games based on existing Blizzard franchises, such as World of Warcraft, Overwatch, and StarCraft. Given the studio's makeup of former King employees, it is speculated that they may be working on titles for the upcoming Xbox mobile store. The move is seen as part of Microsoft's effort to explore cost-effective approaches by leveraging smaller, integrated teams within the larger organization. This development comes after Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard in October 2023, a deal initially announced in January 2022.
