US Gaming Market Sees 5% Decline in June
June saw Elden Ring reclaim its position as the best-selling game in the US, according to Circana's latest charts, thanks to the release of its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The game dominated sales across PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam, marking its first time at the top since May 2022. Elden Ring was also the most played game on Steam, while Fortnite led on Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5. The month introduced new releases, including Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, which debuted at No.4, and Luigi's Mansion 2 at No.8. Re-entries into the Top 20 included The Elder Scrolls: Online and Street Fighter 6, following the launch of The Elder Scrolls Online: Gold Road and promotional pricing, respectively. Mobile content saw Roblox and Pokémon Go experience significant increases in revenue and downloads. Despite this, overall consumer spending decreased by 5% to $4.6 billion, with content spending dropping by 2% to $4.1 billion. Mobile spending, however, grew by 12%, offset by a 26% decline in console content spending. Hardware and accessories also saw declines, with PlayStation 5 leading hardware sales.
