Jan Richter Takes the Helm as CEO of Sixteen Tons Entertainment

A new era has begun at Sixteen Tons Entertainment, as founder Ralph Stock passes the torch to Jan Richter, marking a significant change in leadership. Richter's appointment comes after a four-year stint at ZeptoLab, where he most recently served as head of product and design. His extensive career, spanning nearly two decades, includes roles at notable companies such as Mighty Bear Games, Bigpoint, and SnapDragon Games. Stock, who founded Sixteen Tons Entertainment in 1993, has been instrumental in shaping the studio's success, particularly with the Emergency series. Reflecting on his tenure, he stated: "The past three decades have been a remarkable journey, filled with innovation and games that have captivated players worldwide. The Emergency franchise has undoubtedly left its mark on the real-time strategy genre, and I'm proud of the brand we've built. "I have every confidence in Jan's ability to lead the studio forward. It's reassuring to know that my life's work is in capable hands, and I look forward to seeing the team achieve even greater success." Richter expressed his enthusiasm for the new role, saying: "I'm thrilled to take the reins at Sixteen Tons Entertainment and build upon the outstanding work Ralph has accomplished. With my experience in free-to-play and mobile games, I'm eager to contribute to the studio's growth and help the team reach new heights." The transition follows Sixteen Tons Entertainment's acquisition by Phoenix Games in January 2020.
