Plaion to Serve as Publisher for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra

Skydance Games has formed a partnership with Plaion to handle the publishing duties for Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, which is scheduled to release next year. The game was first revealed earlier this year at GDC and boasts an impressive lineup featuring both Captain America and Black Panther set against the backdrop of World War II. Development of the game is being led by Skydance New Media, a studio headed by renowned industry veteran Amy Hennig, known for her work on the Uncharted series, alongside her co-president Julian Beak. Although the specific platforms for the game have not been confirmed, Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra is slated for a 2025 launch. In the past, Skydance has self-published its titles under the Skydance Interactive label, with notable releases such as The Walking Dead: Saints and Sinners in virtual reality. The company is also set to internally publish its upcoming VR action title, Behemoth. Plaion, a subsidiary of Embracer Group, is expected to become part of a new entity, tentatively named 'Middle-earth Enterprises & Friends', as Embracer Group prepares to split into three separate public entities. Haluk Mentes, the head of Marvel Games, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating: "Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra offers a unique and daring take on some of our most iconic characters. By combining the exceptional development expertise of Skydance Games with Plaion's global publishing capabilities, we have a winning team that can deliver on the immense promise of this game. We look forward to collaborating to bring Marvel 1943 to a global audience." In addition to Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra, Hennig's team at Skydance New Media is also working on a project set within the Star Wars universe.
