Dusk: Revolutionizing Mobile Gaming with a New Social Media Twist
A pioneering social media platform designed for creating and engaging in multiplayer games has successfully raised $8 million in its latest funding round. Founded by Bjarke Felbo and Sanjay Guruprasad, the masterminds behind the PUGB and Call of Duty Mobile companion app, Rune, Dusk has garnered significant financial support from prominent investors, including Makers Fund and byFounders, as well as notable figures such as Ben Liu from PocketGems, Thomas Hartwig from King, and Adi Rathham from Kamkord. Currently in its beta phase, the app already features an impressive 50 games across various genres and has seen users accumulate over 50 million minutes of voice chat within the platform. The vision behind Dusk is to provide developers with a unified space to craft and promote their games, while offering players a vibrant community to play and socialize with friends. According to Sanjay Guruprasad, CEO and co-founder of Dusk, the platform is poised to "reimagine social multiplayer gaming for the mobile generation." Unlike existing gaming platforms that cater to a hardcore audience on PC and console, Dusk aims to capture the essence of casual, fun gaming that Gen Z craves - games that can be effortlessly played and shared with friends on mobile devices, complemented by lively voice chats. This funding milestone reflects the investors' confidence in Dusk's mission to revolutionize the mobile gaming landscape. Ryann Lai, general partner at Makers Fund, expressed enthusiasm for Dusk's potential, stating, "Our investment in Dusk is driven by the belief that the next groundbreaking social app will center around gaming. We are inspired by Dusk’s potential to empower a new generation of creators and reshape social gaming experiences with its lightweight, voice-first, group-hangout format."
