Japanese Gaming Market Sees Nintendo Switch Sell Over 1 Million Units in H1 2024
During the first half of 2024, the Nintendo Switch sold 1.3 million units across its various models in Japan, representing a 31% decline from the same period last year. Key highlights from Japan's H1 2024 include: Nintendo Switch sales of 1.3 million units, down 31% year-over-year, and PlayStation 5 sales of 791,497 units, a 43% decline. Nintendo dominated the boxed title software sales with ¥16 billion, capturing 31.7% of the market. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth was the top-selling game, with 339,168 units sold on PS5, followed by Super Mario Bros. Wonder with 328,317 copies sold. Luigi's Mansion 2 HD debuted at number one in June, selling 88,425 copies in three days. The Switch remained the best-selling format, accounting for 77.4% of sales and 868,958 copies sold.
