Tencent to Discontinue Synced, Its Free-to-Play Shooter, After Only One Year

Tencent has announced that it will be discontinuing its free-to-play shooter game, Synced. The decision to terminate the game's servers comes exactly one year after its launch, with the shutdown scheduled for September 8 at 7pm GMT-8. Although no reason has been provided for the closure, players have been informed that they can continue to play and utilize existing in-game items until the termination date. As a result, new registrations and in-app purchases have been disabled. In a statement on Steam, Next Studios expressed gratitude to the game's community but regretted to announce the game's retirement. The game has received mixed reviews on Steam, with recent reviews being mostly negative due to issues with matchmaking and stability. This development comes after Tencent increased its investment in Remedy Entertainment to 14 percent earlier this year.
