GAME to Discontinue In-Store Pre-Orders Starting Next Month
UK retail chain GAME is reportedly downsizing its services, with a recent report indicating that in-store pre-orders for upcoming games will soon be discontinued. According to Eurogamer, multiple GAME staff members have confirmed that the retailer will cease accepting new in-store pre-orders from August 1, although online pre-orders will still be available. Existing pre-orders for games set to release before January 31, 2025, will be fulfilled, while those for games releasing after this date are expected to be refunded. The decision is allegedly due to the limitations of GAME's bespoke tills, which will only support sales and returns going forward. This change is part of a series of adjustments made to the business this year, including the closure of its membership scheme, the discontinuation of Xbox All Access, and the end of its pre-owned game sales. GAME's parent company, Frasers Group, has been contacted for comment.
