UK Gaming Market Sees Surge in Elden Ring Sales Following Shadow of the Erdtree Release
The UK gaming market experienced a notable shift in June, with console and PC game sales reaching 2.53 million, marking a 14% decline from the previous year, according to GSD data. The month saw significant releases, including Diablo IV, Final Fantasy 16, F1 23, and Street Fighter 6, whereas June 2024 had a more subdued launch lineup. EA Sports FC 24 topped the charts, benefiting from the ongoing European Championship in Germany. F1 24 debuted at number three, but its launch sales were 44% lower compared to F1 23's initial five weeks. Elden Ring saw a remarkable 467% increase in sales after the release of its Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. Luigi's Mansion 2 HD entered the charts at number 14, with its position based solely on physical sales due to Nintendo's policy of not sharing digital data. Console sales dipped 9% year-over-year, with the PS5 maintaining its market lead. The DualSense controller had a strong month, driven by promotions that lowered its average price by £10. According to GfK data, accessories sales rose 16% year-over-year, with the DualSense controller making up the top four spots. The average PS5 customer now owns an extra controller, indicating a significant demand for the accessory.
