Epic Games Store Gets iOS Approval from Apple After Multiple Rejections

Following two rejections, Apple has given the green light to Epic Games Store's notarisation submission. Although developers can now release iOS software outside of the App Store, they must still use a notary service, which scans for malware and checks code-signing issues. Epic had previously expressed concerns over Apple's rejection, citing similarities between button labels and in-app purchase labels as the reason. The company argued that its design followed standard iOS conventions and was not in violation of any rules. After sharing its concerns with the European Commission, Apple approved the submission, but is still pushing for changes to the user interface in future updates. The Epic Games Store and Fortnite are expected to launch on iOS later this year, following the EU's approval of the Digital Markets Act, which permits alternative payment methods and app stores on Apple devices.
