Filming Commences for Ubisoft's Watch Dogs Movie

The long-awaited movie adaptation of Watch Dogs has officially started production. Ubisoft recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo on social media, showcasing a clapboard from the film set, marking a significant milestone in the project's decade-long journey. French director Mathieu Turi is at the helm, with New Regency Productions overseeing the film. This news aligns with earlier reports from Deadline, which also revealed that the screenplay was penned by Christie LeBlanc, known for her work on Netflix's Oxygen, with revisions made by Victoria Bata. According to Deadline, Australian actress Sophie Wilde, known for her role in Talk to Me, was in discussions to join the cast, and her involvement was confirmed in June, alongside Tom Blyth, who recently appeared in The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Margaret Boykin, Ubisoft's head of content for film and television, is set to co-produce the movie alongside New Regency. The Watch Dogs film was initially announced in June 2013, prior to the release of the first game in the series, which launched in May 2014. The most recent installment, Watch Dogs Legion, was released in 2020 to mixed reviews.
