Nintendo Plans to Combat Scalping for Switch Successor by Fulfilling Demand
To counter scalping upon the release of the Switch's successor, Nintendo intends to ensure ample console supply to retailers. During a recent shareholders' meeting, as reported by VGC, President Shuntaro Furukawa outlined plans to combat resellers by meeting customer demand through sufficient hardware availability. Furukawa also stated that the semiconductor shortage, which contributed to a sales decline in 2022, no longer affects Nintendo. "We currently do not anticipate the component shortage to significantly impact production of the successor model," he noted. Although Nintendo has not yet disclosed the launch timeline for its next console, Furukawa confirmed an announcement regarding the Switch's successor is expected by April 2025.
