OV Entertainment Embarks on Mission to Unite Latin American Gaming Companies with Strategic Acquisitions
OV Entertainment Group has made its inaugural acquisitions, purchasing Brazilian game developer Kokku and Argentine technology specialist 3OGS for undisclosed sums. This move marks the beginning of OV Entertainment's quest to unify Latin American gaming companies, fostering growth and providing access to previously out-of-reach resources. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz at Gamescom Latam in São Paulo, key executives outlined the group's vision, spearheaded by Thiago de Freitas, founder of Kokku and now CEO of OV Entertainment. De Freitas explained that the idea for OV Entertainment emerged after Kokku, one of Brazil's largest studios with AAA development experience, received multiple acquisition offers. Instead of selling, De Freitas opted to create a group that would unite Latin American gaming companies, leveraging his understanding of the region's culture, politics, and laws to drive business growth. The acquisition of 3OGS, a talented but under-resourced tech specialist, is expected to benefit from Kokku's established reputation and contacts, enabling the company to secure better clients and projects. According to 3OGS co-CEO Pablo Navajas, joining OV Entertainment will accelerate the company's ambitions, providing access to investment and opportunities that were previously out of reach. De Freitas hinted at a broader vision for OV Entertainment, exploring opportunities in film, TV, and other areas beyond gaming. While the company will focus on acquiring Latin American businesses, its UK registration is expected to facilitate access to capital and support a more global outlook. OV Entertainment's leadership emphasized the importance of preserving the operational independence of its acquired companies, allowing them to maintain their unique cultures and working methodologies.
