Controller Usage on Steam Sees Significant Uptick

The trend of using controllers to play games on Steam is gaining momentum, with Valve noting a substantial increase in daily average controller use since 2018, rising from 5% to 15%. Notably, 42% of these gaming sessions utilize Steam Input, enabling players to leverage various controller types. With over 300 supported controllers available, the Xbox controller emerges as the preferred option, used in 59% of sessions, surpassing PlayStation controllers at 26% and Steam Deck at 10%. Furthermore, Steam has introduced support for the new wireless Hori controller, officially licensed by Valve, ensuring seamless compatibility across desktop and Steam Deck platforms, with a scheduled launch in Japan on October 31.
