Embracer Group Makes $300m Loan Repayment to Lenders

Embracer Group has taken a significant step towards debt reduction by repaying $300 million to its lenders, equivalent to SEK 3.2 billion, on its revolving credit facility. This repayment, made in accordance with the scheduled plan, is a major milestone for the company as it works to settle its debts by the May 2025 deadline. The repayment was facilitated by the net proceeds received from the sale of Gearbox Entertainment to Take-Two Interactive, valued at $460 million, which was finalized recently. Additionally, Embracer Group has also divested Saber Interactive and associated studios for $247 million. The company's recent full-year financial reports indicated outstanding debts of $1.5 billion, but the sale of Saber and Gearbox is anticipated to substantially reduce this amount. Furthermore, Embracer plans to restructure its debt by transferring €900 million to Asmodee, a tabletop publisher, as part of its strategy to split into three separate entities. According to CEO Lars Wingefors, this move is expected to significantly pay down the debt in the remaining Embracer Group, comprising Coffee Stain & Friends and Middle-Earth & Friends.
