PlayStation to Miss Gamescom for Another Year

According to recent reports, Sony Interactive Entertainment is set to skip Gamescom in Cologne for the third consecutive year. The news was confirmed by a Sony spokesperson to Games Wirtschaft, and later verified by the company. This decision follows the platform holder's absence from the event in 2022 and 2023. Notably, PlayStation has not participated in Gamescom since 2019, due to the pandemic and subsequent digital-only events. Additionally, Sony withdrew its support for E3 in 2019, and the event has not resumed as a physical gathering since then. Earlier this year, Sony unveiled its 2024 lineup through a digital State of Play presentation, highlighting key releases such as Concord, Until Dawn, and God of War Ragnarok for PC, as well as the first full-length Astro Bot title. Meanwhile, Nintendo has also announced its decision not to attend Gamescom 2024, although it will have a presence at the inaugural Gamescom Latam in São Paulo, Brazil. In a statement to Eurogamer, a PlayStation spokesperson reiterated the company's planned absence, stating, 'We currently have no plans to exhibit at Gamescom 2024.'
