Andrew Wilson, EA CEO, Receives $25.6 Million in Compensation for FY2024
The compensation of Electronic Arts' CEO, Andrew Wilson, saw a 22% increase to $25.6 million for the fiscal year that concluded on March 31, 2024. This total includes a base salary of $1.3 million, stock awards totaling over $20 million, $3.4 million in non-equity incentive plan compensation, and additional compensation exceeding $500,000, as outlined in EA's annual meeting report and proxy statement for FY24. In comparison, Wilson's compensation was $20.6 million in 2023. As the executive with the highest compensation at EA, Wilson is followed by Laura Miele, president of EA entertainment, technology, and central development, who earned $12 million in FY24. According to Game Developer, EA executives collectively earned over $60 million in 2024. The company's board of directors, compensation committee, and management emphasized their commitment to maintaining a pay-for-performance approach in the executive compensation program. This approach aims to reward the achievement of company-wide financial and business objectives, individual performance, and long-term value creation for stockholders, while acknowledging the competitive nature of the business and the market for top executive talent. The document also invites stockholders to approve the reinstatement of EA's 2019 equity incentive plan, which would increase the number of common stock shares by 2.1 million. EA considers this move essential for attracting and retaining talent, given the rapidly changing and competitive nature of the digital interactive entertainment industry. Recently, EA reduced its workforce by 5% and shut down Ridgeline Games. In 2023, the company had already laid off 6% of its staff, equivalent to approximately 775 people at the time. In 2021, EA revamped its executive compensation processes, including capping executive bonuses. That year, Wilson's compensation peaked at $39.2 million, representing an 83% increase over FY2020, before dropping to $19.9 million in 2022 and gradually increasing since then. For FY2024, EA's revenue reached $7.56 billion, a 2% increase over the previous year.
