Voodoo Purchases BeReal in €500 Million Deal

In a significant move, Voodoo has finalized the acquisition of BeReal, a social media platform, for a substantial sum of €500 million. Established in 2019, BeReal operates on a unique premise where users are prompted to share photographs of their current activities within a limited two-minute timeframe, with the posts disappearing after a 24-hour period. Voodoo's primary objective is to provide comprehensive support to BeReal, focusing on refining its product strategy, augmenting user growth, and reinforcing its infrastructure. Furthermore, Voodoo intends to invest in BeReal to facilitate the development of innovative features. As part of the acquisition, Wizz CEO Aymeric Roffé will assume the role of CEO, succeeding BeReal's founder and current CEO Alexis Barreyat, who will continue to be involved in the short term to ensure a seamless integration of the two entities. Voodoo co-founder and CEO Alexandre Yazdi expressed enthusiasm about the merger, stating, 'BeReal has demonstrated remarkable user dedication and expansion. We are eager to combine our teams and utilize Voodoo's expertise and cutting-edge technologies to transform BeReal into an authenticity-driven social network.' Barreyat also commented, 'Voodoo boasts an impressive history of driving substantial growth in mobile applications. Their expertise and resources will be instrumental in placing BeReal on a path of sustainable growth.'
