Apple Boosts Gaming Lineup with Enhanced Development Tool
Apple has unveiled an updated version of its Gaming Porting Toolkit, designed to facilitate the creation of Mac versions of popular games. This free update, announced at the Worldwide Development Conference on June 10, introduces support for Intel's Advanced Vector Extensions 2, ray tracing, and enhanced compatibility with Windows games, along with new shader debugging tools. As a result, a range of games will now be available on Mac, including Assassin's Creed Shadows and other notable titles such as Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Dead Island 2, and Control: Ultimate Edition. The updated toolkit has enabled the release of the following games on Mac: Assassin's Creed Shadows, Control: Ultimate Edition, Dead Island 2, Frostpunk 2, Palworld, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 7, Riven, Robocop: Rogue City, Sniper Elite 4, Valheim, World of Warcraft: The War Within, and Wuthering Waves. Additionally, the update includes Xcode 16, allowing developers to create and manage shared codebases for games across all Apple devices.
