Innersloth Launches Outersloth, a New Indie Game Fund to Support Fellow Developers

The creators of the popular social deduction game Among Us, Innersloth, have established a new fund to support independent game developers. The fund, called Outersloth, was announced during the Summer Game Fest Opening Showcase, with the goal of sharing the studio's success with other indie developers. According to co-founder Forrest Willard, the industry is currently facing challenges, and some developers are not receiving the recognition they deserve. As a result, Innersloth has decided to offer funding to support these developers, providing them with the kind of deals that the studio would have wanted when it was less well-known. The Outersloth website emphasizes that the fund is solely for funding purposes and does not involve publishing games or acquiring intellectual property rights. Although the exact amount of funding available has not been disclosed, it is likely that the fund will support projects ranging from $50,000 to $2 million. The fund is not available for virtual reality titles, blockchain, or Web3 games, as well as games that have already been released or are in Early Access. Innersloth's community manager, Victoria Tran, stated that the fund is a way for the studio to express its gratitude to its community, players, and peers by providing funding and creative freedom to developers. This initiative is part of the studio's efforts to create a more sustainable and equitable industry. The first six games to receive funding through Outersloth have been announced, including Mars First Logistics, Battle Suit Aces, Mossfield Archives, One Btn Bosses, Rogue Eclipse, and Project Dosa. Additionally, several other studios, such as Strange Scaffold, Visai Games, and Coldblood Inc, have received funding for unannounced games.
