Asia and MENA Gaming Market Projected to Reach $100 Billion by 2028

According to a recent report by Niko Partners, the Asia, Middle East, and North Africa gaming market experienced a 4.6% year-over-year growth, reaching $85.5 billion in 2023. By 2028, this figure is expected to surge to $97.1 billion. The report provides insights into the gaming markets of China, India, East Asia, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East and North Africa. Notably, India is anticipated to add 277 million new gamers by 2028, accounting for 72% of the region's total new gamer additions. By 2028, India is projected to have more gamers than China, with a total of 731 million. The Asia and MENA region dominated global mobile game spending in 2023, contributing 58% of the total, and also accounted for 50% of global PC game spending. The report forecasts that the Asia and MENA market will have nearly two billion players by 2028, up from 1.6 billion in 2023. Furthermore, the average gaming hours per week in Asia have increased by 36.2% year-over-year. Lisa Hanson, CEO of Niko Partners, emphasized that 'Asia and MENA are crucial to the global gaming market, driven by factors such as localization, increased female gamer participation, government support for esports, and growing spending power.' Hanson also stressed that 'to gain meaningful access, companies must understand local market realities and contextualize the data they use for strategic planning.'
