Introducing Unikat, a Fresh Publishing Label

Veteran games marketer Michal Napora is launching Unikat, a new publishing label dedicated to backing independent game developers known for crafting distinctive, minimalist experiences. With its headquarters in Perth, Unikat has already secured two titles: Pools, a thought-provoking exploration game from Tensori, and Dystopika, an upcoming cyberpunk city builder from Void Within. As the founder and CEO of the marketing agency 32-33, Napora has collaborated with prominent studios such as Bloober Team, Techland, and Frogwares. Reflecting on the gaming industry's evolution, Napora observed, "Over the past year, I've witnessed a significant shift in player preferences, behaviors, and purchasing habits, as well as changing expectations among developers and players regarding how they want to be treated and the types of games they can create." He believes this transformation signals a promising new era, stating, "A new wave of innovative ideas, patterns, and expectations is emerging, and I see this change as a positive development. However, it's clear that these new developments cannot thrive under the old industry norms."
