PSVR 2 PC Adapter Release Date Announced
Sony has confirmed the launch of a PC adapter for the PlayStation VR 2 headset, scheduled for August 7. This adapter will enable PSVR 2 users to access a wide range of VR titles available on Steam, including popular games such as Half-Life: Alyx and Fallout 4 VR. The adapter will be priced at $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99 and can be purchased from the official PlayStation store and select retailers. To use the adapter, players will also need a DisplayPort 1.4-compatible cable, a Steam account, and a PC that meets the minimum system requirements outlined by Sony. It's worth noting that certain features like HDR, headset feedback, and haptic feedback will not be available when using the PSVR 2 with a PC. According to Yasuo Takahashi, Sony's principal product manager, the most immersive experience is still reserved for the PS5, but the company hopes the adapter will allow players to enjoy an expanded VR game library on their PCs using the same headset. Since its launch on February 22, 2023, the PSVR 2 has sold nearly 600,000 units in six weeks, although production was reportedly halted in March 2024 due to a backlog of unsold devices.
