PlayStation Unveils Latest Lineup in State of Play Showcase, Featuring Astro Bot and Concord

In its latest State of Play presentation, PlayStation showcased an array of games slated for release over the next 12 months, with a focus on titles beyond its major franchises. Notably, the company had previously confirmed that 2024 would not see the release of a game from one of its prominent brands. However, the event concluded with the reveal of Astro Bot, developed by Asobi, which is slated for release on September 6th. Astro Bot is the sequel to the critically acclaimed Astro's Playroom, a platformer bundled with every PS5 console. The showcase kicked off with Concord, a new sci-fi multiplayer shooter from Firewalk Studios, acquired by PlayStation in 2021. Concord is set to launch on August 23rd, just a few weeks prior to Astro Bot's release. Other notable announcements included the upcoming release of God of War Ragnarok on PC, scheduled for September 18th, nearly two years after its initial debut on PS5. Additionally, a remastered version of the BAFTA-winning horror game Until Dawn is expected to launch later this year, potentially competing with the remake of Silent Hill 2, which is set to arrive on October 8th. The presentation also featured trailers for several upcoming titles, including Monster Hunter Wilds, Path of Exile 2, Dynasty Warriors Origins, and Marvel's Rivals. Furthermore, PlayStation VR2 games Alien Rogue Incursion and Skydance's Behemoth were showcased, both of which are scheduled for release this year. New IP announcements included the dark fantasy RPG Ballad Of Antara, anime dress-up game Infinity Nikki, and Dark Souls-style action game Where Winds Meet. While the showcase was somewhat subdued, it marks the beginning of a month filled with gaming announcements, including Summer Games Fest, the Xbox Games Showcase, and Ubisoft Forward, among others. Nintendo has also confirmed a Nintendo Direct for June, although it will not feature the company's next console.
