Intercept Games to Undergo Staff Reductions by June's End

Intercept Games staff members have disclosed that the studio will be experiencing layoffs in the coming month. Several employees from the Kerbal Space Program development team, including senior design manager Quinn Duffy, have shared the news on LinkedIn. According to Duffy, the team is expected to be let go on June 28. The news was also confirmed by software engineer John Del Valle and principal engineer Mark Jones in separate LinkedIn posts. "Working with this team has been an absolute delight, and it's rare to find a group of developers as dedicated as this one, who truly embody the spirit of Kerbal," Jones wrote. "Saying goodbye to such a unique title and franchise will be difficult, but all good things must eventually come to an end. "The gaming industry is currently facing challenging times, and unfortunately, another talented group of developers will be forced to look for new opportunities." GamesIndustry.biz has reached out to Take-Two for additional information. This development follows a report by Bloomberg in May, which suggested that Intercept Games, along with UK-based developer Roll7, would be shutting down. A WARN notice filed in Washington State also detailed the closure of a Take-Two office on June 28, with 70 employees affected by the layoffs. However, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick stated in an interview with IGN that neither studio had been shut down. A spokesperson for the publisher informed GamesIndustry.biz that its Private Division label will continue to release updates for Kerbal Space Program 2.
