Bungie Emerges Victorious in Lawsuit Against AimJunkies

In a significant triumph, Bungie has successfully won its lawsuit against AimJunkies, a provider of cheating software. According to a report by GameFile's Stephen Totilo on social media, the jury ruled in favor of Bungie, agreeing that the cheats infringed upon the company's copyright and awarding $63,210 in damages. The founder of AimJunkies' parent company, Phoenix Digital, David Schaefer, intends to file a motion to dismiss the verdict and will appeal if necessary, as further reported by Totilo. Bungie's lawyer, James Barker, expressed gratitude towards the judge, staff, and jury, emphasizing the company's commitment to protecting its players from cheating. The case, which has been ongoing for several years, initially saw Bungie's copyright infringement claim dismissed in 2022 due to insufficient evidence of trademark infringement. However, the case proceeded, with Phoenix Digital issuing subpoenas and claiming that a Bungie employee had violated AimJunkies' terms of service. A judge denied AimJunkies' request to dismiss the lawsuit, and Phoenix Digital subsequently filed a countersuit, which was dismissed in November 2022. Bungie also secured a significant victory in February 2023, winning $4.3 million in arbitration.
