Rolling Stone Introduces Dedicated Gaming Platform

Rolling Stone has made a comeback in the gaming media landscape with the launch of Rolling Stone Gaming, a new dedicated section. According to Game Developer, the section will be led by Christopher Cruz, a seasoned gaming editor who previously served as an executive producer for the site's content studio, which included the daily Twitch show Rolling Stone on Twitch. The launch of Rolling Stone Gaming is the result of a partnership with ESL FaceIt Group, owned by Savvy Games Group, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. Notably, the PIF has also acquired stakes in several major gaming companies, including Capcom, Embracer, Nexon, Nintendo, Activision Blizzard, Take-Two Interactive, and Electronic Arts, over the past few years. This move marks Rolling Stone's return to gaming coverage, having previously launched its gaming vertical, Glixel, in 2016 under the leadership of industry veteran John Davison. However, Glixel's operations were scaled back a year later, with its San Francisco office being closed and all staff laid off.
