Sony Reportedly Developing Mobile Gaming Platform

According to recent reports, Sony is working on establishing a mobile gaming platform focused on free-to-play games. The news emerges from a job posting for a mobile platform architect, which was discovered by tech website TweakTown. The job requirements outline the need for a software engineer to create a platform for the development, publication, and operation of free-to-play mobile games, with the added goal of integrating these games with PlayStation services. Currently, Sony's mobile gaming portfolio is limited, with its primary title being Fate/Grand Order, a role-playing game published by Aniplex, a subsidiary of Sony Music Entertainment Japan. In 2022, Sony launched its mobile division, acquiring Savage Studios, now rebranded as Neon Koi, as part of this initiative. The PlayStation Studios Mobile Division functions independently of the console business, concentrating on producing mobile games based on new or existing PlayStation intellectual properties. Meanwhile, Xbox is also expanding into the mobile gaming space, with plans to launch its own storefront in July.
