Twitch Viewing Hours Decline to 1.64 Billion in April

According to the latest report from StreamElements, Twitch users spent 1.64 billion hours watching live streams in April. This marks a 7% decrease from the 1.77 billion hours recorded in March, following an update to the previous month's data. Daily viewing hours also experienced a 5% drop, from 57 million to 55 million, continuing a downward trend observed throughout the year. The lack of major game releases and events in April contributed to this decline. The top categories for viewing hours were led by Just Chatting, with 238 million hours, and Grand Theft Auto 5, with 128 million hours, as well as popular live service games like Fortnite and League of Legends. However, only two categories saw an increase in viewing hours, with Rust experiencing the most significant growth, thanks to its Waves of Change update, which resulted in a 227% increase, or 19 million more hours watched. Rust reached a total of 27 million viewing hours, securing the 9th position, while Call of Duty Warzone saw a 19% increase, with 33 million hours, placing it at 8th. "April was a relatively quiet month, with few notable events and no major game launches, but the significant update to Rust provided a notable exception to the overall decline in viewership," noted StreamElements co-founder, Or Perry. "Another highlight was Jynxzi becoming the first creator to top the streamer list twice in 2024, earning a spot among renowned streamers like xQc and Gaules."
