Initiative Launches to Support Irish Indie Game Developers with Grants of Up to £15,000

A newly established fund is inviting applications from indie game developers in Ireland, offering grants of up to £15,000 to successful candidates. The IndieDev2024 initiative is a collaborative effort between Ardán, a division of the Galway Film Centre, and Imirt: The Irish Game Makers Association, with backing from Northern Ireland Screen and Screen Ireland. This pilot programme is designed to provide support to independent game developers across Ireland, with eligibility extended to studios that are based in, or plan to remain in, either Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland. The programme is open to teams consisting of up to five members, although individual developers are also encouraged to apply. In addition to the financial grant, selected participants will receive mentorship and additional support through events and workshops hosted by Northern Ireland Screen's Pixel Mill co-working space in Belfast, as well as Ardán and IMIRT in Galway and Dublin. These workshops, spanning two weeks, will focus on conceptualising ideas and creating initial prototypes, with the goal of developing a playable concept prototype within the 12-week programme timeframe. The application deadline is set for 12pm on May 31, 2024.
