GameStop's Preliminary Q1 Results Show Sales Decline of at Least 28%
GameStop, a leading video game retail company, has released its preliminary financial results for the first quarter, which concluded on May 4. The company anticipates net sales to fall within the range of $872 million to $892 million. This projection indicates a year-over-year sales decline of 28% to 30% for the quarter. Furthermore, GameStop expects its net loss to be between $27 million and $37 million, representing an improvement from the $40.5 million loss reported in the same quarter last year. In a separate development, the retailer is planning to sell up to 45 million shares of its stock to generate funds. This news comes on the heels of a notable increase in GameStop's share price earlier in the week, sparked by a social media post from Keith Gill, also known as Roaring Kitty, his first in three years.
