Singularity 6 Announces Staff Reduction of 36 Employees
Singularity 6 has undertaken a new wave of restructuring, resulting in the layoff of 36 employees. In a conversation with Game Developer, and as confirmed by Polygon's Nicole Carpenter, the company emphasized its commitment to supporting its online simulation game Palia, despite the significant reduction in staff, which accounts for approximately 40% of its workforce. According to a Singularity 6 spokesperson, "We have been forced to reorganize and downsize our team to maintain our focus on Palia and serve our community in the long term." The company acknowledged that 36 colleagues were let go in an effort to navigate the current economic challenges. The spokesperson expressed gratitude to the departing team members and assured that the company is dedicated to providing them with the necessary support and assistance during this transition. They also expressed hope that the industry would offer new opportunities to these talented individuals. This move follows a previous round of layoffs in April, where the company reduced its staff by just over a third. After securing $30 million in funding in 2021, Singularity 6 launched Palia in August 2023, and by March 2024, the game had attracted over three million players.
