Activision Establishes New Studio in Poland, Focused on AAA Game Development
Activision has launched a new in-house studio, Elsewhere Entertainment, with the primary objective of crafting a narrative-driven intellectual property and associated franchise. Located in Warsaw, Poland, the team at Elsewhere Entertainment comprises seasoned developers who have contributed to notable titles such as The Last of Us, Uncharted, The Witcher, Cyberpunk, Destiny, Tom Clancy's The Division, and Far Cry. The studio benefits from unrestricted access to Activision's resources throughout the production and development phases of its forthcoming title. Elsewhere Entertainment represents the second Activision studio to be based in Poland, following Infinity Ward's expansion to Kraków in 2017, under the leadership of former principal rendering engineer Michal Drobot. This development comes on the heels of Xbox's recent decision to dissolve four studios renowned for their work on original intellectual properties, including Tango Gameworks' Hi-Fi Rush and Arcane Austin's Redfall. Earlier in the year, Microsoft implemented significant layoffs, affecting 1,900 employees, including personnel at Activision Blizzard.
