Former Bandai Namco Employee Arrested Over Alleged Misuse of Company Funds
A former Bandai Namco staff member, Yoichi Toyosumi, has been taken into custody on suspicion of embezzlement. According to reports from The Japan Times, Toyosumi is accused of misappropriating company assets, including smartphones and other items, worth around $345,300 in 2020. His role at Bandai Namco involved managing mobile devices used for game development. It is alleged that Toyosumi sold up to 4,000 smartphones between 2015 and 2022, worth around $2.57 million. The discrepancy in mobile device usage led to the discovery of the alleged embezzlement in November 2021, with charges filed in December 2023.
