Sphaira Innovation Acquires Playmob, Expands Sustainability Efforts in Gaming

In a move to further their joint mission of promoting environmental awareness in the gaming industry, Sphaira Innovation has acquired UK-based developer and insights firm Playmob for an undisclosed amount. The acquisition formalizes a long-standing relationship between the two companies, which have collaborated on several initiatives, including the recent Make Green Tuesday Moves campaign. Playmob's CEO, Jude Ower, will join Sphaira UK as chief strategy officer, working closely with PlanetPlay CEO Rhea Loucas to drive the company's sustainability agenda forward. Ower expressed her enthusiasm for the merger, stating that Playmob's mission is closely aligned with PlanetPlay's, and that the partnership will help push the gaming industry's sustainability efforts forward. Currently, Playmob is working with the United Nations Development Programme on an international study focused on climate change awareness and mitigation strategies. Sphaira Innovation UK chairman Dirk van Daele welcomed Playmob and Jude Ower to the team, highlighting the potential for scaled growth and increased impact in the climate action space.
