Square Enix Announces Restructuring Plans Affecting European and American Offices
Square Enix is allegedly set to downsize its workforce as part of a broader restructuring initiative. According to a report by VGC, employees were notified of the impending changes during an internal meeting. President Takashi Kiryu reportedly stated that teams in the Americas and Europe will be impacted over the next month, primarily within the publishing, IT, and independent game development sectors. The decision follows a disappointing financial year, with several titles underperforming and failing to meet profit expectations. As outlined in the company's quarterly financials, Square Enix aims to implement a new strategy, which includes rebuilding its international divisions and introducing structural reforms to optimize costs in its European and American offices.
