Sony Establishes New Studio with Former Deviation Games Team Members

According to recent reports, Sony has founded a new studio comprised of ex-Deviation Games employees. This news was hinted at by Michael Anthony, former technical director, in a LinkedIn post, where he mentioned that the studio is working on a previously unannounced intellectual property. Anthony expressed his optimism about the studio's potential, praising the talent of the developers involved and wishing them the time and creative freedom to produce a high-quality product. It appears that Jason Blundell, co-founder of Deviation Games, is also involved in the new studio. This connection was suggested by a social media post from JC Farmer, a former Deviation Games employee who now works as a junior game designer at PlayStation under Blundell's leadership. Further details are currently being sought from Sony. Deviation Games was initially founded in 2020 by Blundell and Dave Anthony, both known for their contributions to the Call of Duty series. The studio had been working on a new IP for PlayStation, announced at Summer Game Fest in 2021. However, after Blundell's departure in September 2022, the studio underwent significant changes, including layoffs affecting up to 90 employees in May last year, and ultimately announced its closure in March this year.
