Warner Bros. CEO Attributes Q1 Losses to Underwhelming Performance of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League

Warner Bros. Discovery's CEO, David Zaslav, stated that the company's Q1 financial results were negatively impacted. During a recent earnings call, he pointed to the lackluster sales of Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League as a contributing factor. According to a report by Bloomberg's Jason Schreier, Zaslav described the game's release as 'disappointing'. As per Warner Bros. Discovery's latest report, the company incurred a $200 million loss due to the game's poor performance. In a call with investors, CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels explained that the $400 million year-over-year decline in Q1 was largely attributed to the challenging comparison with the successful launch of Hogwarts Legacy last year, combined with the underwhelming release of Suicide Squad, which led to a $200 million impact on EBITDA. Previously, in February, Wiedenfels had cautioned investors that the low sales of Suicide Squad would set the stage for a difficult year for the company's games division.
