Roblox Sees Q1 Revenue Surge to $801 Million
Roblox has unveiled its Q1 2024 financial results, showcasing substantial growth in revenue and bookings. Key highlights include: $801 million in revenue, marking a 22% year-over-year increase, and $924 million in bookings, up 19% from the previous year. Although the company reported a net loss of $270 million, it noted a significant rise in daily active users, reaching 77.7 million - a 17% year-over-year increase, with the Asia Pacific region being a major contributor. Hours engaged also saw a 15% year-over-year increase to 16.7 billion, driven by strong growth in the same region. Following an initial decline in engagement, the company implemented algorithm changes and reintroduced events, which have started to yield positive results. According to founder and CEO David Baszucki, the team's efforts to drive growth have been fruitful, with CFO Michael Guthrie adding that the company has been operating more efficiently over the past three quarters. Roblox has forecasted revenue of $855-880 million for Q2 2024, with estimated bookings of $870-900 million.
