Founder Mike Wilson Departs DeepWell

Mike Wilson, the founder and co-CEO of DeepWell, a studio centered on mental health, has announced his departure from the company. The news was shared on social media, with Wilson revealing that his exit occurred in late 2023. In a statement, Wilson expressed his decision to leave, stating that nearly all the games industry colleagues he had brought to DeepWell also departed. He clarified that he has no involvement with the game released on the Quest store and noted that his colleagues had requested to have their names removed from the project. Despite this, Wilson remains optimistic about the potential of games and digital media to positively impact people, but felt that this could not be achieved within DeepWell. According to Game Developer, the title in question is not searchable on the Meta Quest store, and DeepWell's website lacks any mention of it, with no updates since 2022. DeepWell was founded in 2022 by Mike Wilson, co-founder of Devolver Digital, and Ryan Douglas, founder and former CEO of Nextern.
