US Gaming Scene: Fortnite and Call of Duty Lead the Pack in March

In the US, the most popular games across console platforms last month included Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto 5, and several Call of Duty titles. According to Circana's latest report, which now includes engagement rankings alongside US spending data, Fortnite emerged as the top game in terms of monthly active users on both PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series consoles. Call of Duty HQ, encompassing Warzone 2.0, Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3, secured the second spot on both consoles, followed by the remastered version of Grand Theft Auto 5. However, on Steam, Sony's Helldivers 2 took the lead, with Valve's Counter-Strike 2 coming in second. These rankings align with those reported by Newzoo for six European markets, although Minecraft ranked higher in those regions. The data also supports a recent Newzoo report indicating that titles six years old or older accounted for 60% of total playtime in 2023. Notably, the only newly released titles to make Circana's rankings were Sony's MLB: The Show 24 and Capcom's Dragon's Dogma 2. The top ten most played games on PlayStation 5, based on monthly active users, are listed below, with Call of Duty HQ including Warzone 2.0, Modern Warfare 2, and Modern Warfare 3. Similarly, the top ten most played games on Xbox Series X|S are also listed, along with the most played Steam games for March 2024.
